Circularity is all about using materials, after the first use, again and again for the same or similar applications. For plastics, there is still much to be gained there! After all, now only 2% of plastic waste is reused for high-value applications. This is not only due to the complexity of waste streams or the availability of recycling methods, but largely due to the lack of insight into the composition and quality of input and output streams. Understanding the composition of plastic samples makes it possible to improve the recycling process and use recyclate at a higher value. However, currently available methods fall short of providing representative measurements for industrial applications. As a result, recyclers and customers are left in the dark and an unnecessary amount of material is used in low-value applications!
Veridis Technologies offers the solution: the MADSCAN! The MADSCAN is an innovative stand-alone measuring instrument that allows fast and easy representative measurement of a large batch of plastic materials. This allows an industrial site to reliably analyze the composition of a batch with a single measurement. Veridis started developing the MADSCAN several years ago and has since proven its operation in the lab. During this project, Veridis is working with end users and knowledge partners to demonstrate the MADSCAN in practice, further develop it and validate its impact for recyclers. At the end of the project, the MADSCAN will be ready to go to market and make an impact.
