Big bags are indispensable in countless industries, from agriculture to chemicals, for storing and transporting dry bulk goods. But did you know that these giant bags, which are usually discarded after one use, offer a huge opportunity for recycling? In the Netherlands alone, millions of big bags are sold every year, and that means a mountain of potential waste that we can turn into something valuable.
Healix, a Maastricht-based company known for their expertise in recycling plastic fibers, is ready to take the lead in this. Together with CHILL, they will build a dedicated plant in South Limburg, not only revolutionizing the recycling industry, but also making a significant contribution to the resource and climate transition. With the envisaged capacity of this plant, almost 40 kilotons less greenhouse gases would be emitted annually, and that is just the beginning of a climate-neutral Europe.
